My Knee Remembers

January 30, 2026Poetry

"My knee remembers strength and the supple drifts of running as a child."

My knee remembers strengthand the supple drifts of runningas a child through fieldsof chamomile and timothy.
My knee remembers the barbed wire fencethat reached out a tentacle, catching the fleshthat healed leavinga scar that tells the storyof a child who ran too fastand loved the land too muchto slow down.
